Every project I do is exciting and unique in it's own way. However my approach to projects is generally the same. What I do is:
1) Spend alot of time getting an intimate understanding of the music and feel
2) Choose right area of the room for best acoustic sound for given project (more or less natural reverb, etc.)
3) Set up 11 mics
-1 Hihat,
-2 snare (top & bottom)
-3 Toms (2 rack, 1 floor)
-2 bass drum (in & out)
-2 overhead mics (L & R)
-1 Room mic
4) Record scratch track to double check the sound is right. Check possible phase issues.
5) Lay down final recording
6) Export individual tracks and send
If you're interested in doing a project with me, please send me a message. Thanks!
